Out-of-Town Patient Planning for an IVF Cycle On Yourself
Embarking on an IVF cycle from out of state is entirely possible with ICRM’s dedicated support and comprehensive planning. Through phone consultations, local arrangements, and medication shipments, our dedicated team helps patients navigate their IVF cycle safely and conveniently from out of town.
Our Out-of-Town IVF Process
Ovarian stimulation: Using hormone injections, which our IVF coordinators will train you to administer. You will need regular ultrasounds and blood tests throughout ovarian stimulation to monitor follicle development and hormone levels. These can be coordinated locally with your healthcare providers.
Egg retrieval: Once your follicles are mature, you will travel to Boise for the outpatient egg retrieval procedure, performed under sedation or anesthesia. This typically takes about 20–30 minutes. On the same day, you can provide a fresh sperm sample, or if you have cryopreserved sperm, we will use that for fertilization.
Embryo culture and transfer: Fertilized embryos will be cultured for 5–7 days. You can opt for a fresh embryo transfer during your Boise visit or schedule a frozen embryo transfer (FET) several weeks later. FET allows for flexible timing, includes optional genetic testing, and provides peace of mind. It is typically scheduled at least three weeks after retrieval, but you can choose to delay if desired.
Post-procedure: Most patients remain in Boise for their embryo transfer or travel home afterward, depending on their plan. Most pregnancies can be confirmed via blood test approximately 10–14 days after transfer.
